Motorcycles 101: Riding in Hot Weather
Riding a motorcycle in hot weather is a common predicament. With no A/C, the only thing to keep you cool is the breeze while you ride, and this may not be enough for high-temperature days or slow commutes around the city. For tips on how to fight the heat while riding your motorcycle, check out our article below.
Timing
While we can’t always control when we need to run an errand or make a quick trip to the grocery store, for longer rides, we recommend trying to schedule your commutes for cooler parts of the day. You’ll be surprised how even a small temperature decrease can help significantly cool you off as you ride.
Hydration
If you do need to ride during the hottest part of the day, be sure to stay hydrated. This doesn’t mean chugging a large bottle of water before you hit the road, but taking large sips throughout the day to ensure you don’t sweat out all of your important fluids. Salty snacks or sports drinks can also come in handy, as they’ll help ensure you have plenty of electrolytes to keep your blood pumping during your ride.
