Company Beginnings

Royal Enfield was founded in 1891 as The Enfield Cycle Company Limited in Redditch, Worcestershire, England. The company’s first motorcycle rolled off production lines in 1901, and its most popular and enduring model was the Bullet, first manufactured in 1931. The Bullet has been in continuous production since 1948. This is an impressive feat for any motorcycle!

Further Expansion

During the 1950s, the brand was licensed to an Indian manufacturer. When the English Royal Enfield terminated production in 1966, the Indian branch lived on and continued to manufacture a variety of motorcycle models with both single-cylinder and twin-cylinder engines. Some popular Royal Enfield models include the Bullet, the Classic 350, the Meteor 350, the Classic 500, the Continental, and the Interceptor 650.

Royal Enfield North America was established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2015, and in 2021 the company celebrated 120 years of Pure Motorcycling.
